New Year Adventure

I’m sitting in bed typing this. Jammies on, earbuds in, my Tito’s special on the nightstand. I’m in that “end of year” mood…you know – the one where you’re like “where the heck did the year go?” Which is followed closely by “what do I want to do next year?” A new year. Tabula Rasa. Its kind of daunting and exciting all at the same time.

2016 was incredible for me. It was a big transition from a life of “I really can’t do that” to “I’m going for it!”

One of my big intentions with this blog is to inspire other parents (moms especially) to make life more of an adventure. I remember when I was in my 20’s and I had three kids under 5, I felt like my choices were limited. I felt..stuck…but I never would have admitted it in that way. I thought because I had these kids that I couldn’t have adventures, that I had to just be June Cleaver…who of course no one is.

I look back now and think of all the things I could have done, all of the things I thought would be too hard to do with little children. Now I know the kids would have thrived from the types of adventures we are having now.

So as we approach the new year…

If there is anything I can impart to you, it is that you should not WAIT. Make 2017 a year to remember. Find your bliss, have some maybe tough but joyful adventures. You don’t have to fly across the world, you just have to look around. I promise there are some beautiful spots not too far from you right now. Get out. Camp. Hike. Take pictures. Eat new food. Be OUTSIDE. Go where there is no cell reception.   Do things that will make you feel ALIVE.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

My wish for you in 2017 is that you discover something new…about yourself and about the world.  I wish you LOVE, happiness, laughter and of course Joyful Adventures.
